In Costa Rica, 100% of the waste generated: 11.5% is plastic waste, and only 9% is recycled.

What is the effort?
There are many types of plastics, but not all of them can be recycled. To facilitate the separation of the different types of resins, every plastic object is marked with the Plastic Identification Code or RIC (Resin Identification Code). In this case, in the Gallon containers of Florex we find HDPE (High-density polyethylene). This type of recyclable plastic is common in packaging for dairy, juices, shampoos, perfumes, liquid detergent cans and other cleaning products.

Recycling (mechanical) consists of the reception and storage of materials, selection of plastic or identification, crushed so that the product is in the form of pellets, to be able to incorporate it back into the production chain, closing the circle of clean production

How this initiative contributes to society and the environment
FLOREX begins to use and provide its products in gallons of 100% recycled plastic from post-consumer materials, in a commitment to generate circular economy.

Previously we used recycled resins, now we add that these containers are made of recycled resins in their entirety. With this measure we contribute to reduce the demand for plastic virgin resins, in addition to promoting the entire recycling chain.
We want to encourage consumers to send these containers for recycling as well, in an orderly and proper way.

This new effort, for 100% recycled resin containers, completes the Florex model to a truly circular economy one. The circular economy represents a more sustainable and alternative model to the traditional linear economy. There is a serious problem that we are addressing and that is the improper disposal of our packaging. In addition, we want to generate more employment, especially in vulnerable populations.

We are only part of the pending link to close the cycle of the circular economy, as a company that packages our products in plastic. With this initiative we prevent plastic waste from ending up in rivers, oceans and the environment, turning it back into recoverable material.
