International. P&G reaffirmed its commitment to digitizing its business, thanks to a new co-innovation agreement recently signed by Microsoft. The agreement aims to expand the company's current digital manufacturing platform.
In such a way that a collaboration was projected that will take advantage of the Microsoft cloud, to precisely expand the P&G digital manufacturing platform. Among the novelties of this technological union, it stands out that in this way it will take advantage of the industrial internet of things (IIoT) to bring products to consumers faster, increase customer satisfaction and improve productivity to reduce costs.
While the two companies have worked together in the past, under this new collaboration, P&G will use Microsoft's Azure suite to digitize and integrate data from more than 100 manufacturing sites around the world, as well as enhance its AI, machine learning and edge computing services.
Vittorio Cretella, Chief Information Officer at P&G, said: "Through our work with Microsoft we intend to make manufacturing smarter by fostering scalable predictive quality, predictive maintenance, controlled release, contactless operations and optimizing manufacturing sustainability. something that hasn't been done at this scale in the manufacturing space to date."
That is, with the new IIoT platform, P&G will be able to collect sensor data on the manufacturing line and use technologies such as advanced algorithms, machine learning and predictive analytics to improve the efficiency of the manufacturing process. Moreover, pilot projects are already underway in paper and baby care products in Egypt, India, Japan and the United States.
