The prices of cleaning products always show greater volatility at the beginning of each year, since the effects on the rise in workers' wages have a significant effect on them, which makes both the purchase of these and services more expensive. In Latin American countries, the rise is not only given by the growth of inflation during 2022, but also by consumption habits.

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) said that in relation to the price increase in cleaning products, which reached 27.2% throughout 2022. The rise was notably evidenced in the rise that the dishwasher had, an increase of 33% (highest price since January 2019). Another case is detergent next to fabric softener. Thus, both reached an increase of 27.9%.


In turn, insecticides, presented an increase of 25.7%; Flavourings and disinfectant had 25.6% and, finally, cleaner with 24.1%. While air fresheners and disinfectants were the ones that experienced the highest monthly variation within cleaning products. Thus, it stood out with a rise of 11.9%.


In relation to this, the MARKET STUDY: CLEANING AND FACILITY MANAGEMENT IN LATIN AMERICA 2022-2023 states that "internationally, the market for Home Cleaning services in the US estimated for 2021, a growth of USD $ 1.5 billion. The country currently accounts for a 22.3% share of the global market."


According to the National Institute of Statistics and Census of Argentina, INDEC, reported that cleaning items are among the 10 items with the highest price increase during the first months of 2022. "In May alone, it reported an increase in this segment of 5% and year-on-year from 60% to 115%, depending on the type of product."


The market study also argues that "there have been significant increases in the prices of cleaning products in the Aztec country. Laundry soap tops the list in April 2022, when it was marketed 26.2% more expensive than the same month last year. Fabric softeners and cleaners registered an increase of 11.2% in their price level, bleaches 9.6%, among other products in the sector.


In Colombia, the National Federation of Merchants, Fenalco, warned "that household hygiene products have had an increase even higher than the Consumer Price Index, CPI, which stood at 8.42% for May, while these products increased by 10.53%".
