Colombia. Emvarias, the cleaning company that operates in the city of Medellín, Colombia, launched in January 2023 a third waste collection route, in order to overcome the problems it had been presenting in some areas of the city.

To achieve this goal, in the company of the local mayor's office, it added 15 collection vehicles to its fleet, completing 57 new trucks during the last year. According to the mayor's office of the city, this project is executed within the framework of a plan to evolve the public cleaning service and mitigate the increase in the generation of ordinary waste after the economic reactivation

On the one hand, each household will go from having two to three frequencies of garbage collection, in addition the Eco-Route project advances, hand in hand with recyclers, to improve the processes of circular economy and recycling; among other actions that are articulated with this vehicle renewal of Emvarias Grupo EPM.

Friendly and sustainable operation
The 57 new collection vehicles, which will operate in two shifts each day, have the capacity to capture more than 1,300 tons of garbage daily, an indicator that adds to the environmental benefits because they are trucks 100% dedicated to vehicular natural gas.

Emvarias closed 2022 with commitments that strengthen the cleaning work, with the fulfillment of the containerization project that reached more than 2,000 installed, the pedagogical strengthening that in 2022 knocked on the door of more than 50,000 homes and establishments directly, as well as the activation of special operations in areas with waste problems.

"Emvarias is transformed and for that we have to modify our collection system, we have four systems: in areas of difficult access, the traditional model of collection, the containerization of waste and we will have in January the lateral loading of waste, an avant-garde system that will allow us to collect waste from large, metal containers of 3,300 liters, "said the manager of Emvarias EPM Group, Carlos Borja Jimenez.

The investments for vehicle renovation, more collection routes and technologies at the service of citizens and for a cleaner Medellín, do not contemplate tariff increases for public services.
