International. In the modern era, technology has become an indispensable ally in cleaning and maintenance management in all types of facilities, from offices to hospital environments and nursing homes. Growing environmental awareness and the need for efficiency have driven the development of innovative solutions that not only optimize processes, but also contribute to the sustainability of the planet and the care of people.

One of the main advantages of technology applied to Facility Services is its ability to improve the efficiency and profitability of operations. Automated management systems allow for precise scheduling of cleaning and maintenance tasks, optimizing the use of resources such as water and energy. Not only does this reduce operating costs, but it also lessens environmental impact by minimizing resource waste.

According to Franco Fernando YANINE, professor, consultant with post-doctorate at U.Finis Terrae, UTFSM, "some interesting trends in the cleaning industry are, for example, what is known as Green Cleaning, that is, using systems and products that do not have a harmful impact on human beings or pollute the environment in any way. Products that are 100% harmless to the environment and biodegradable."

In turn, he explained: "There is also equipment that is low in maintenance cost and easy to operate, such as several of the automatic cleaning systems and some robotic systems, which are capable of operating autonomously and covering a wide range of cleaning and cleaning services. There are also services specialized in certain surfaces and types of dirt, with strong support from robotics, optical systems and automation, as well as a minimum use of personnel. Along with this are the CRM-type cleaning software packages to provide a more personalized service."

In addition, the technology offers tracking and analytics tools that allow organizations to evaluate the performance of their services in real-time. This makes it easier to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions proactively, contributing to more effective and cost-effective management.

Technology also plays a crucial role in promoting environmentally responsible practices. Smart cleaning and maintenance systems use eco-efficient products and equipment that reduce the consumption of natural resources and minimise the generation of waste and polluting emissions.

For example, the implementation of cleaning systems with microfiber and steam technology allows for more effective cleaning with reduced use of chemicals, water, and energy. Similarly, the adoption of electric or hybrid cleaning equipment contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions and the fulfilment of environmental objectives.

Care for people

In addition to its impact on the environment and profitability, technology is also used to ensure the care and safety of people in settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, and senior care facilities. Automated cleaning and disinfection systems help maintain a clean and healthy environment, reducing the risk of infections and nosocomial diseases.

Likewise, the technology is used in the monitoring and management of security in these environments, through access control systems, surveillance cameras and emergency devices. This provides peace of mind for both residents and staff, ensuring a safe and secure environment at all times.
