Colombia. ANDI's Chamber of the Cosmetics and Cleaning Industry reported that sales of pesticides for domestic use increased 36.6% during the last year, reaching a total of US$107.4 million. This figure marks an all-time record for the category, which between 2019 and 2023 averaged US$77 million annually.
According to ANDI, the growth reflects a sustained increase in the demand for pest control products within the home, driven both by climatic factors and by changes in consumption habits. Pesticides, also known as insecticides, stand out mainly in spray or aerosol formats, followed by electric ones.
According to Euromonitor International, the recent boom "is due to the increase in temperatures in the country, which has generated the presence of insects such as ants, spiders and mosquitoes, and consequently, has contributed to the rapid growth of dengue cases."
This trend was also analyzed by Raddar, who agrees that "although Colombian households continue to face tight budgets and a high cost of living, the seasonality of the climate and other phenomena resulting from intense rains in several regions of the country may increase the use of some of these categories."
The positive performance of the domestic market is complemented by a rebound in exports. During 2024, domestic pesticides registered a positive trade balance, with Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala, Brazil and Venezuela as the main destinations.

Among the categories with the highest growth are air fresheners, with an increase of 15% and total sales of US$43 million, and laundry or laundry care products, which reached US$863 million, an increase of 12.3%.
In total, the segment closed 2024 with sales of US$1,379 million, with a growth of 12.4%, exceeding initial projections.
For Yeili Rangel, director of the Chamber of the Cosmetic and Cleaning Industry of ANDI, this performance reaffirms the relevance of the sector:
"Household hygiene is essential for Colombians, so the purchase of this type of product is a fundamental part of the family basket. As an industry we are committed not only to providing the quality to meet these preferences, but to continuously improving processes to be increasingly innovative and sustainable."
