Mexico. For decades, broad-spectrum ultraviolet light oscillating at a wavelength of between 200 and 400 nanometers is highly effective at killing bacteria and viruses by destroying the molecular bonds that hold their DNA together. UV light is routinely used to decontaminate surgical equipment.
Colombia. Pacaribe, provider of the public cleaning service in Cartagena, has implemented a special containerization plan since last March in the historic area, in order to optimize collection times and encourage the good disposal of waste to avoid affecting public space and the generation of pollution sources.
